Where do I start?

OK, just a quickie blog and the last for a little while because Ryleigh and I our headed out of town for a month! So, we are headed to Alabama to some time with my parents and I haven't even started packing, BTW we leave tomorrow morning! I can't seem to find the motivation to get moving. While I'm excited to get out of town and see loved ones, I'm leaving my Jami behind. We haven't been apart for more than a few days! I know it's going to probably be good, absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? Well it's going to suck! I have so much I should be doing right now, yet I find myself sitting on the couch blogging. OK, here goes, a "To do List"
1) pack clothing and shoes
2) pack toiletries
3) toys for Ry
4) pack life saving DVD player
5) download kid's music (and maybe some for mommy)
6) snacks, water, juice, emergency potty, wipes

OK, that's done, that's the 1st step right? What else do I need for a 16 hour trip that I'm forgetting? If anyone has any helpful hints on things that might make for a happy preschooler on such a long trip, please feel free to send me some!!! Ones for mom may help too!

Well wishes to all and hopefully we'll have much to report when we return and pics too!

So our 4yr old got a cell phone........

So we just bought our 4yr old a glowphone by firefly. It's a child's phone, completely programed by parents with on 7 buttons for the child to use. There is a mom and dad key and a 5 way navigation key. 911 is also programed in. She can't just dial someone, it has to be programed in the phone. We paid 20.00 for the phone brand new on eBay and aside from the 9.99 a month, it's costing nothing else. She'll share our minutes and rollover. OK, the reasons we came to this decision:
1: My mom calls up to 6 times a day and 95% it's for Ryleigh(love ya mom)
2: She has her father's side of the family that we believe would call more if they could dial her directly.
3. She knows how to work my blackberry bold and Jami's 3G iPhone, and wants to play the games on them(her phone has games).

We will have BIG rules for such a BIG girl item. It stays in the same place at all times unless in use, you have to ask to use it, there will not be a replacement if it's broken by being out and out irresponsible.
So we thought we'd get your opinions, it's poll time again!

Geocaching with the family

So yesterday we decided to go geocaching. I had never been and I have to say it was a blast! I highly recommend this for people with children. It was great exercise, beautiful scenery we wouldn't have seen otherwise and a great alternative to buying a new toy or something for Ryleigh. We hiked for about 4-4 1/2 hrs about 4 miles and burned about 2,000 calories.....that's a bonus for us moms, right?
Our adventure started only a few miles from home, near a wooded area. We took our GPS, put in the coordinates and began our journey. We went to 5 locations and found 3, some had either been taken or the new vegetation had covered it so much so we couldn't locate them. The 1st location Ryleigh took "Bob's lucky worm" and we left Pez, we always leave Pez. The 3rd location, Ry took a sticker....and at our 4th she took a sticky gummy horse. It was like finding buried treasure for her. Also along our journey we discovered a frog pond with various stages of frogs, from tadpole to full grown. We had a butterfly net and were able to collect 3 different large tadpole, one large with back legs and tail, lastly one with both sets of leg who should be shedding his tail soon. So we now have "pet" tadpoles.
Posted below is a link about geocaching in case you might want to take your family for an adventure. We plan to make it our Sunday ritual now and even have plans to do it when we visit family.

Just an update

We haven't blogged in a while, been busy! We started family counseling to help with some issues with our 4yr old. We missed the terrible twos and had the horrible threes that has spilled into our fours. Since my daughter didn't pop out with a manual I thought before we have any major problems I would seek the help of a professional. I'm so glad I did! I really am enjoying it and looking forward every week! I'm not only learning new ways on how to deal with my child but I'm learning a lot about myself too. I learned I had to re-think how we had been doing things and start over again the right way. I had or we had been giving her to much access to all of her things. I know I had gone over bored with many toys, electronics, games, etc.... This started when I discovered the brain tumor, I went over bored and I also was try to make up for her father. I am smart enough to know "things" can't replace people, I just wanted her to enjoy the time she had with me. I wanted a toy store in my home so I could lock ourselves away from the world and it be us two until the end! Luckily that has been far longer than I had 1st thought but by now it had become a pattern. Long story short we had to take way all her toys, games and electronics. Now we have limits to not only what she can have but for how long! I think our biggest issue is that she misses home and having friends. I think once she starts school things will get better. Heck even our therapist said, "man, she really sucks you in and really fast, she knows how to work you" now that's coming from someone who just met her and is a trained professional. It also doesn't hurt she is so damn cute and knows it.....even he(therapist) said she was gorgeous. She has a really big personality, she is a bit of an actress and funny, man she is funny! Anyway, she was pissed the 1st few days, it was like having a full blown teenager who couldn't see her 1st love or something. There was screaming, doors slamming, tears and begging, it was bad. Almost a week later we are doing some what better. BTW, she has slept in her bed almost two weeks and Jami and I have been about to spend a lot more quality time. I didn't even feel like I was missing this time but since we've been doing it I actually enjoy it. We are now going on nightly family walks, for an hour to an hour and a half. We are also doing a game with her most nights. So that's whats going on and why we've not been blogging as much, we've been reconnecting as a family!

p.s..........We've decided to have Ryleigh take Jami's last name to before school starts, it will make things easier and help identify us easier(on paper) as a family! How exciting!!!
